The Traditional Recreation program provides a variety of community based events to individuals with developmental disabilities. A calendar of events is mailed out bi-monthly where participants can pick and choose from a variety of fun activities such as sporting events, plays, musicals, and concerts, cooking classes, bowling, dinner and shopping, craft nights, movies, and much, much more! Please note: The Traditional Recreation program has recently converted to a waiver hourly respite service so any new individuals looking to utilize this service must live with family members and be enrolled in the HCBS Waiver.
Traditional recreation is held on weekday evenings and weekends. Specific dates and times, which vary from event to event, can be found on the calendar of events. The weeknight events start no earlier than 5:30pm and can go as late as 11:00pm depending on the event.
The cost varies by event and is indicated on the calendars, with prices ranging from $5.00 to $50.00. Many of the events are all inclusive; meaning the only money the participants would need to bring would be for extra purchases, such as popcorn at the movies.
Transportation is provided by Recreation Staff from the 181 Lincoln St. site to the events and then back again. All events start and end here unless otherwise noted on the events calendar. All participants are responsible for their own transportation before and after events.
