Day Habilitation

“Day Habilitation services help individuals achieve satisfying and rewarding connections and relationships within their communities.”

    Community Day Habilitation

These are daily activities that teach participants how to successfully experience and access their resources and opportunities in the community. 90% of instruction and experience takes place off-site, in the community. 10% of instruction is on-site in a program-room setting. Community Day Hab is a full-day program, and participants may choose which day’s activities best suit his or her interests and outcomes.
Activities and instruction include: swimming and exercise, volunteer work, cooking class, massage therapy, instruction in healthy eating choices and grocery shopping, dance instruction, crafts, safety in the community, socialization opportunities, and skill development exercises.

    Rehabilitative Day Habilitation (“Living Skills”)

This is a half-day (2 hour) day habilitation program that provides service to individuals with identified therapeutic needs as well as people who display needs in any of the various areas of daily living. These services help individuals become more successful in their daily responsibilities both at home and in the community. Group therapies (Speech, OT, and PT) and program room instruction provide services to address topics such as cooking, personal hygiene, money concepts, safety skills, community awareness, nutrition, communication, exercise, and physical coordination.

Computer Skills and Technology Based Learning ("Computer Lab")

This is a 45 minute non-clinical program that emphasizes using technology to assist individuals in increasing their independance in a growing world of computers and technology everywhere. Participants choose what they would like to get out of the program, whether as a much needed leisurely break from the work rooms, or to take advantage of the many educational software titles available. Particpants are taught basic computing skills, as well as safe practices when on the web.
